AstroForge Gears Up for Groundbreaking Mission

AstroForge, a California-based startup, is set to launch its Brokkr-2 spacecraft in the first quarter of next year, aiming to be the first private company to explore an M-type asteroid in deep space. This mission is crucial as M-type asteroids contain higher concentrations of metals compared to regular asteroids.

The spacecraft will ride aboard a SpaceX rocket as part of NASA’s Artemis program, with a mission length of about two years. AstroForge has successfully test-fired rockets to prepare for integration with SpaceX in the coming year.

The startup aims to source precious metals like cobalt, nickel, and platinum-group metals from space as Earth’s supply dwindles.
